What Time Is The Lunar Eclipse Tonight

According to space.com, if you are residing in the US particularly in the East Coast, expect to see the lunar eclipse as it begins half an hour after midnight tonight. On the West Coast, it begins around the time 9:30 p.m. PST Monday. In all cases, the whole eclipse will be observable before the moon sets in the west just as the sun is rising in the east.

Today is the winter solstice. It is the shortest day of the year with the duration of daylight lasting 9 hours and 53 minutes. From here on out the days get longer, meaning that summer is on the way. There also was a lunar eclipse last night.

The first total eclipse of the moon in two years will be visible late tonight, Monday December 20, and early on December 21, 2010.  (The video on the left shows the last lunar eclipse on February 20, 2008.)  There is concern here in the San Francisco Bay Area that the eclipse could be blocked by clouds.
